SAMC cruise to breakfast at OST & to watch the Bandera Cowboy Mardi Gras Parade

SAMC will once again cruise to Bandera, Texas on Saturday, February 7th to have breakfast at the Old Spanish Trail (OST) Restaurant (311 Main St.), enjoy the Arts and Craft Show on the Bandera Courthouse Lawn (10a-5p), as well as watch the Mardi Gras Parade at Noon.
There will be time for antiquing and shopping at local stores after breakfast. The multi-level Western Trail Antiques Mall was built in 1873 (200 Main Street) and opens at 10:00am.
If watching the parade with me, Gail, Bea, Jerry, and others on Main Street close to the historic Bandera County Courthouse, please bring portable chairs to watch the parade at Noon. We normally set our chairs in place by 11:30am. If you are planning to collect beads and candy, remember to bring a bag for all the goodies.
January 10th, Greg Polizzi secured wristbands for some members to watch the parade from the upstairs balcony at TJ's at The Old Forge (807 Main Street) -- if you are one who asked him to get you a wristband(s), please remember to reimburse him the $10 fee that day, if you have not done so before. TJ's will have chairs available so you will not need to bring your portable chairs; you can secure your seating prior to the parade.
On 1/16, TJ's advised me that they had sold out of wrist bands.
As of 1/20 7:00pm, Greg has 3 wrist bands available - if you interested in purchasing 1 or more, please reach out by text to Cathy at 210-398-0142.
We may do other events this day together after the parade.
11th Street Cowboy Bar will be having events during the day also (some events require tickets to be purchased through https://banderacowboymardigras.com).
As this is an outdoor event, remember your jackets/coats, umbrellas, etc.
Vendors on Main Street as well as on the Courthouse lawn may have snacks and drinks for purchase, but it's never a bad idea to have some in your car in case they don't have what you are looking for.
We're taking off from Home Depot (9115 N Loop 1604 W @ Bandera Rd) at 7:00am and will head up Hwy 16 to hopefully park near the Bandera County Courthouse. By getting there early, we can get a prime parking spot before they are all gone. From there, we'll walk to OST.
Of course, if you wish to park somewhere else, you can, then meet-up at OST. For those planning to watch the parade from The Old Forge, there may be parking available in their back parking lot.
If you are coming from I-10 area via Hwy 46, you can meet up with the San Antonio caravan at Hwy 46/Hwy 16. We should pass there around 7:30am depending on weather and traffic.
Since OST opens at 7:00am and gets full fast, Greg will drive up to OST early that morning and will try to secure seating for all of us before we cruisers arrive.
